Tommy Smith was a wonderful man with enduring patience. We sat through many mortgage closings that went on for hours and hours. His calm nature, wit and humor kept everyone smiling throughout. He would light up like a Christmas tree with the mention of his family and loved you all dearly. My thoughs and prayers are with you all and as you grow to accept his loss, hold on to all the wonderful memories he has brought to you. He didn't miss 'The Dance'. Sheila M. Atwood

You will never know the impact Tommy had upon my life. He was a special friend. Within days of beginning his work in McIntosh, we met at the Tax Commissioners Office. Tommy attended a funeral of a city officials husband, at which I was singing. After that, every time I saw Tommy, he would begin singing, 'Just a closer walk with thee....' and I would laugh. He would tell me that I was going to sing that at his funeral some day. I would simply laugh at him and ask him if that was the only song he knew. He would smile and say, 'Yep' He knew I sang in a Gospel singing group. In January 2007, my oldest daughter and I witnessed the suicide death of my children's father. As sick as Tommy was at that time, he made sure that he took the time out on 3 different occasions to call me to make sure that I and my children were doing okay. Sherron, you nor your children will NEVER know how much that will forever mean to me. As sad as his death is to me, I will be honored to fulfill Tommy's and your requests, and sing Just a Closer Walk With Thee, at his service.
- Tracy L. Brooks, Darien, GA

Sherron, Mitchell and Kate, in the months that Tommy was sick I heard so many stories from former clients about his kindness, his wisdom and his humor. I'm sure you did as well. It is clear that he was a man of many talents and interests. His compassion and empathy for others was sometimes so amazing. He was quick-witted and insightful. He was great fun to be around. He was a good lawyer and a good friend. I know that he loved each of you beyond measure. While I cannot know your grief, I can tell you that Tommy's death has impacted so many people. Who knew how important he was to us all? He will be missed for a long time to come. Jean
